You're not soft. Your nervous system is doing its job.
One bad shift turns into three. Your hands get tight, your feet stop, and you start playing not to lose. That's a pattern, and patterns can be retrained.

Name it and it gets smaller.
The Mistake Spiral
After a mistake you replay it, judge it, and carry it into the next play rather than releasing it. The mistake becomes a referendum on your ability instead of an isolated event. This is a rumination pattern: your nervous system treats the mistake as an unresolved threat, and that activation costs attention, which costs performance.
The Positive Filter
No matter how well you perform, it does not fully register. Your mind moves past the good and settles on what could have been better. This is a selective attention pattern, a systematic bias in how your nervous system files evidence about you. Confidence cannot be built when the evidence is rejected at the door.
The Impossible Standard
The bar is always just above wherever you are. A satisfactory performance becomes the new minimum. Goals that drive performance need an actual finish line; when the line moves as you approach it, the goal stops motivating and starts depleting.
The Empty Corner
In the moments that matter most there is no internal voice offering support. There is silence, or there is criticism. You would back a teammate without hesitation. You do not offer that to yourself.
If you have watched an athlete shrink in big moments, you have watched one of these four.
What Is Inside
A system, not a pep talk.
Four Phases
Recognition, Understanding, Retraining, Identity. You learn to see the pattern, understand the mechanism driving it, retrain the response, and rebuild identity on evidence.
Three Protocols
Activation, Reset, Integration. What to run before the game, what to run when it goes sideways, and how the work compounds week over week.
Grounded in CBT, ACT, and applied sport psychology, translated by a licensed clinician into language that belongs in a locker room. 49 pages. No filler.
Game Day
Three phases, in order, every time.
Body Down
Slow exhale breathing, two to three minutes. The goal is not calm. The goal is controlled, somewhere you can still hear yourself think.
Mind Lock
Attention gets a job. Two or three process targets for the night, the specific things you will do rather than the results you want.
Identity Activation
Short, evidence-based, in your own words. A statement built from things you have actually done, tied to how you intend to play.
The order is the point.
